“Speaking truth to power” is an often potent tactic for fighting injustice. Standing up for what’s right and telling our authentic stories can be a powerful way to ignite change. But often telling those stories requires trust and courage from story-tellers. When 28 tenants of Park Montgomery apartments came forward to tell their stories of unfair treatment from their property management company, they showed us all what trust and courage can look like.
With continued social distancing and other necessary disruptions to everyday life, simple pleasures can take on new significance. One such simple pleasure is crocheting. For three Tuesday evenings in August, Network Builder Carmen Hernandez is partnering with Yarn Bomb 2020 to host an outdoor crochet circle at Argyle Middle School. The crochet circle is paired with IMPACT Sports youth soccer practices. The circle is a perfect hangout for parents waiting during sports practice.
