Join us for an advanced viewing of “Suppressed and Sabotaged 2022,” a documentary by Brave New Films that raises public awareness of the alarming ways that efforts to suppress the vote and overturn election results are threatening our democracy.
The screening (film is 43 minutes long) will be followed by a panel discussion featuring:
-Yanet Amanuel, Director of Public Policy, ACLU of Maryland
-Joanne Antoine, Executive Director, Common Cause Maryland
-Will Wilder, Singer Fellow, Brennan Center for Justice
Our host and moderator is Ronnie Galvin, Managing Director for Community Investment, Greater Washington Community Foundation.
The film and panel discussion will touch on these core themes:
1. How our work for a just and equitable Montgomery County is taking place against a national backdrop of voter suppression efforts across the country.
2. How inequitable incarceration rates are tied to voter suppression.
3 The importance of voter access in the fight to combat racism and racial inequity.
4. Action steps we can take to stand in solidarity with other states experiencing the fallout of recent voter laws, and what we can do as a nation to guarantee equitable access to the polls.
