Time: 10:00am-12:30pm

We are excited to announce a tour arranged specifically for our network! This tour focuses on African Americans during and in the Civil War. It will be led by tour guides, Johnny Coleman II and Marquette Milton. This tour is great for small or large groups, families with children, and individuals, but it does require some walking and a warm coat. And, don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes to walk in! The tour is engaging, thorough, and interesting and it is not something you’ll want to miss!
If you are unfamiliar with the Shaw area, it is the home of Howard University, Howard Theater, Howard University Hospital, U Street and much much more. Here are the places you’ll visit and learn about:
The African American Civil War Museum;
Sites at the Shaw neighborhood in Washington DC; and
The African American Civil War Memorial.
The tour will start at 10am on February 1, 2020 at Torrie’s Restaurant, where the tour guides have arranged for us to gather, eat, and learn some context before the tour. The price of the tour is $35.
