SUMMARY:The Fall Family Festival
DESCRIPTION:What better way to kick off fall than a festival?!  IMPACT and Hughes United Methodist Church are co-organizing a festival with the theme “Cultures and Voices of the World.”  The event will feature fun for the whole family includes games and activities for children\, raffles\, music\, and resources and services from Montgomery County.  There will be vendors from different countries\, Mariachi\, and folk dancers.  Attendees are invited to wear clothing representing their heritage.  If you wish to perform a folkloric dance from your home country\, please contact IMPACT Network Builder Carmen Hernandez at carmen@impactsilverspring.org.  We hope to see you there! \nParking is available at 10613 Georgia Avenue–across the street from Hughes United Methodist Church. \n

Dean will explain mutual aid (think radical acts of caring\, not charity) and its importance in social justice movements. Attendees will learn from historical and contemporary examples of successful movements\, and have the opportunity to submit questions. This event is free and open to the public\, and will include Spanish interpretation. \nWe’re pleased to be able to offer this as a FREE event\, but we need your support to keep events like this free and accessible. That’s why this event is also a fundraiser! \nAt checkout\, please consider making a donation–suggested amount: $25 – $50 or whatever you’re able to give.
